Het verhaal van woonoord Schattenberg 1951-1971

 Op 22 maart 1951 kwamen in het voormalige doorgangskamp Westerbork de eerste Ambonezen aan. Deze militairen waren in opdracht van de Nederlandse overheid vanuit hun vaderland naar ons land gekomen. De naam kamp Westerbork werd gewijzigd in woonoord Schattenberg. Meer dan 3000 Molukkers zouden er komen te wonen.

Hoewel hun verblijf tijdelijk zou zijn, werd de Molukse bewoningsgeschiedenis de langste van dit kamp. Pas in 1971 vertrokken de laatste gezinnen. Met hun gedwongen vertrek kwam er een einde aan het kamp en volgde afbraak.

In Molukkers in kamp Westerbork wordt een beeld gegeven van de Molukse wereld op de Drentse hei. Tal van oud-bewoners komen aan het woord en de verhalen van hun leven in het kamp. Ook in het woonoord werkzame Nederlanders vertellen over hun contacten met een andere cultuur.
