De ronde speen geeft een vergelijkbare tong plaatsing en zuigtechniek als bij borstvoeding doordat de zijkanten van de tong omhoog komen en rond de speen vormen. Het schildje van de fopspenen van Frigg is naar buiten gericht, waardoor de kans op irritatie rondom het mondje wordt verminderd. De speentjes van natuurrubber kun je steriliseren door ze 5 minuten in kokend water te leggen.
