The ATK HY Free 11 is a revolution in Hybrid ski binding design. ATK, historically known for incredibly precise tech bindings, have brought out the HY Free to bring that same precision to the Hybrid category. The HY Free offers downhill performance on par with alpine bindings whilst being incredibly light, reliable and easy to use.

The ATK HY Free is the choice for the latest generation of freetourers looking for performance, safety, and comfort at the same time. The HY Free allows for traditional release mechanisms, meaning you don't have to sacrifice your safety to tour efficiently. The HY Free 11 features a release range of 4-11 and is suited to ladies and lightweight guys.

Every structural component of the HY Free is machined out of solid aluminium giving it a ton of strength and durability. Yet the weight of the binding is a scant 675g, an entirely reasonable weight for the performance that it offers.

3 different touring heights give you the ultimate in choice while ascending. These settings are easily changed with a pole to make your ascent super efficient. No more body contortion to change your riser level!

Features

  • Release Range: 4-11
  • Walking Modes: -18mm, +10mm, +42mm
  • Boot size Adjustment: 25mm

Toe piece:

  • Alpine performance: The Hy Free delivers the responsiveness, control, and confidence of an alpine binding. The boot sits flat on the ski in ski mode, eliminating the pin-height differential typical of standard PIN bindings for a true downhill experience.
  • Compatibility: The Hy is compatible with most alpine skiing, ski mountaineering, and freeride boots. To ensure safe and high performance, the Anti Friction Device (AFD) slider on the toe piece must be adjusted with various sole types. To achieve this, we have developed specific spacers that fit between the sliding section of the AFD and its underlying structure. These spacers ensure proper boot-to-binding contact while accounting for the sole's thickness. Thinner plastic soles provide a stiff connection with the binding. For this reason, we designed softer spacers that also serve to dampen vibrations. Thicker rubber soles require little to no spacers, as their rubber composition inherently provides vibration absorption.
  • Seamless transitions: Switching between ascent and descent modes is effortless. Simply raise the toe arms for walking or rotate them forward and down for skiing. The intuitive design ensures reliable performance in all conditions with no needs for interchangeable parts.

Heel piece:

  • Negative steps: For uphill efficiency, the Hy Free includes a unique “negative” walk mode that allows the boot heel to drop slightly below the toe level. This reduces strain and improves stride efficiency, especially for freeride boots with limited cuff mobility and during long flat approaches.
  • Walking modes: The Hy also features two heel raisers for easier uphill progress, both activated easily even with the pole.
  • Hy Brake System: The rear ski brake locks automatically when the heel piece is in walk mode. This means that when the real lever has been pushed fully forward the ski brake can be locked in position with a simple press of the rear paddle. When transitioning to ski mode, it seamlessly unlocks by pushing the rear lever backwards, ensuring hassle-free use.

The modern Great Gatsby
Format: Hardcover
It is a very interesting (words) and depressing (reality) book to read. As a former Facebook employee, this book allows me to reflect my time at the company from a new angle, confirming some of the hypothesis I had, and shedding great insights into my experience. Thank you Sarah for sharing her story. We are all in this together.

Riveting, believable, depressing
Format: Kindle
Anyone who studies business recognizes the evolution. At the start, employees are comrades and customer's are wooed. Beyond a certain size, employees become line times and customers become commodities.

Fantastic series by a creative artist
Format: Paperback
Amulet, a graphic novel by Kazu Kibuishi ( , ), is geared towards the 9-12 age group. However, the novel will captivate anyone that begins to read it as they are swept along a moving story with beautiful illustrations. Our young heroine Emily witnesses the death of her father in the opening pages of this novel. Emily, her mother, and her brother Nevin move into the home of their missing great grandfather. There are secrets lurking within the house, one that soon ensnares Emily's mom. She's dragged from the basement by a tentacle through an open door and Emily and Nevin must go on a rescue mission to another world. This story captivates the reader from the beginning. The reader is compelled to feel for the characters of the story, from Emily witnessing the death of her father to watching her mom being dragged away by some unknown creature. Although this is only the first part of the series the reader gets a true sense of the characters, their feelings, and their emotions and is left hanging at the end of this book and wanting more. What really sells the story are the illustrations as they capture and convey the moods of the characters and their surroundings. The drawings have a light airy quality to them, with a simple, but moody, color palette to show off the extensive use of shadows to convey emotions of the character in graphic detail. The reader is never left wanting or wondering what the characters are thinking, the colors clearly display what they feel--the age of the great-grandfather is written into the lines on his face, the fear and courage of Emily as she seeks to save her what's left of her family. As the story progresses a darker palette is used and we are left wanting the lighter colors to return. Something unique about the drawings is that when the story first begins the characters almost look undefined. While we can read their emotions they are merely shapes on a page. However, as the story progresses they gain more depth and emotion. This novel is a must read. A strong young heroine, with monsters and robots as well, enough to keep any crowd entertained. The moving illustrations and compelling story make this a great read and the book is highly recommended for all ages.

A Magical Start to an Epic Series
Format: Paperback
I read Amulet: The Stonekeeper with my class, and the students couldn’t get enough of it! The artwork is absolutely stunning, and the story grabbed their attention right away. Even reluctant readers were eager to see what happened next. The mix of fantasy, adventure, and relatable characters makes it the perfect series to hook middle-grade readers. As soon as we finished, they were already asking for the next book in the series!
