by Model Expo - Plank-on-Bulkhead Kit

The Benjamin W. Latham is an outstanding example of a turn-of-the-century Grand Banks fisherman. Built in the Tarr & James yard at Essex, MA in 1902, she sailed out of Noank, CT as a mackerel steiner. From 1906 to the end of her career, she operated as a dory trawler out of New York's Fulton Fish Market. She was lost off the coast of San Juan in 1943.

Our own Model Shipways Benjamin W. Latham model is a joy to build, and the large, 1/48 scale allows for lots of detail. All wooden parts, including the false keel and 14-piece bulkhead set, are laser cut. The Ben Latham kit contains basswood planking for the hull and deck, and plenty of strip stock for timberheads, monkey boards, riding bitts and deck pads. Basswood is also supplied for deck cabins, hatches and chain boxes. Wooden blocks and deadeyes number over 100, and rigging comes in three diameters. You'll find brass eyebolts, chainplates and strop rings. The Britannia metal fitting set is one of the most comprehensive we've ever compiled, including windlass parts, anchors, bilge pumps, props, exhaust pipes, fiferails and smokeheads.

One of the most remarkable features of our Model Shipways Benjamin W. Latham is an authentic plank-on-bulkhead seine boat. You'll build it upside down on a set of formers, just like the real thing! Sail cloth for a full complement of sail completes the kit. Smithsonian Institute supplement original plans by Erik A. R. Ronnberg, Jr., for a total of six sheets. Updated 48 page instruction book leaves no construction detail unexplained. Model is displayed on a 30" oak base (available separately).

The best dog ball!
I have bought about 8 of these balls now. Mostly because my dog looses his or I’m buying them for my other dog friends. I put a dog bone in it at dinner time and it keeps my dog occupied while I’m eating my dinner. He loves it and so do I! They also have different sizes. We recently got a bigger dog breed so I got the biggest one. He loves it as well! Worth every penny!

Long term durability and still my dogs fav toy!
We’ve had this ball for 13 months now. It’s still my dogs #1 favorite toy. I have dogs like that to chew and they have tried but this thing is still fully intact. Definitely got my moneys worth and my dogs love it!!

Dog loves them
I have these balls in every size they come in. My dog loves them and they are the only thing that he can’t destroy. I also have put a squeaker from a destroyed toy inside of one (it was a difficult thing to do) and made my own indestructible squeaky ball as well as putting a small sized ball inside a medium sized ball to make something that he plays with on his own for hours. Even if you just use it as a ball without any of the modifications I have done I highly recommend this product. You can play with your dog indoors and not be too concerned about damaging anything. It also is great for playing in the snow since it doesn’t sink as far as other balls.

Great for small dogs
This ball lasted 5 minutes for my bully. That's my fault for not reading that it was small. I'm going to look for the largest size in hopes to get a few more minutes worth of chomps. My dog loved it.

Too easy to chew apart even for easy going dog
I bought this to hold treats for my dogs to work at getting the treats out. I thought the dogs would roll the ball and toss the ball. No. The lab took one look at the ball and immediately chewed apart one section and let the treats out. So the ball was then useless.
