Beginning with the Old Testament basis of the New Testament teaching about the church, the book gives a consistent correlation of Christ with the church's nature, membership, assemblies, ministry, and life. This is not a historical study but a doctrinal study. The aim is to present a biblical theology of the church. A doctrinal approach, however, does not mean a doctrinal scheme is imposed on the text; rather, the effort is to let the doctrinal teaching arise out of the text itself. The systematic treatment of the topics traditionally covered in studies of the doctrine of the church are here brought together in relationship to Christ, who is seen as providing the nature of the church and of its membership and as providing not only the example for the church but also a living continuation of himself in its worship, polity, and ethics. The Today in the subtitle does not imply a tailoring of biblical ecclesiology to the interests of the present, but is meant to emphasize that biblical ecclesiology is viable today; it is also an acknowledgment that the questions addressed are in part shaped by contemporary as well as historical issues in ecclesiology. Suprisingly good quality and a great looking jacket
I have been searching for a ring master jacket for a circus themed gala where I will be the Auctioneer/Ring Master. All the other jackets I looked at were either cheap costume stuff or just looked a little too much military Hussar style with all of the added gold tassels. This has just the right class and definitely the right look. I was worried it would fit weird or just not be constructed well but I could not be any happier with this jacket- the sleeves are a perfect length when my arms hang at my side, as is the high waist cut and the length of the tails are also just right- and best of all the sequins really shine.
I spent my career in the circus and the performing arts and this would have been more than acceptable on stage for someone to wear as a ring master or to look fancy and sparkly, assuming nobody will be standing on your shoulders and popping off your sequins. It is comfortable to wear, although I would not say it allows for full range of motion relative to a costume I would have actually worn in a circus while doing acrobatics. But that would be a totally hand made costume with flexible material and 4-10x the price.
Overall it cannot be beat for your average wearer!
