Renowned historian Annette Atkins presents a fresh understanding of how a complex and modern Minnesota came into being in Creating Minnesota. Each chapter of this innovative state history focuses on a telling detail, a revealing incident, or a meaningful issue that illuminates a larger event, social trends, or politics during a period in our past. A three-act play about Minnesota's statehood vividly depicts the competing interests of Natives, traders, and politicians who lived in the same territory but moved in different worlds. Oranges are the focal point of a chapter about railroads and transportation: how did a St. Paul family manage to celebrate their 1898 Christmas with fruit that grew no closer that 1,500 miles from their home? A photo essay brings to life three communities of the 1920s, seen through the lenses of local and itinerant photographers. The much-sought state fish helps to explain the new Minnesota, where pan-fried walleye and walleye quesadillas coexist on the same north woods menu. In Creating Minnesota Atkins invites readers to experience the texture of people's lives through the decades, offering a fascinating and unparalleled approach to the history of our state. Annette Atkins is a professor of history at St. John's University in Collegeville and the author of Harvest of Grief: Grasshopper Plagues and Public Assistance in Minnesota, 1873-1878 (MHS Press) and We Grew Up Together: Brothers and Sisters in Nineteenth-Century America.Binding Type: Paperback

Elegant look
Size: 8.5, Color: Champagne
Beautiful and delicate shoes. Look very minimal. Comfortable enough!

Super comfy, but side strap is a bit annoying
Size: 9, Color: Black Leather
Honest review of these shoes that I just wore to a wedding. They are SO comfortable, I wore them all night and didn't need to take them off. The only issue is that since the one strap just goes along the one side of the top of your foot, I did feel like it kind of pushed the shoe to the side. It's hard to describe, but when I was walking sometimes I could feel my food shifting off my shoe on the side.

Comfy shoe, Not a great dupe
Size: 6.5, Color: Black Leather, Size: 6.5, Color: Black Leather
These are so cute and comfy and I love them. Minus two stars because I specifically bought them for the little silver SM on the bottom so they’d look better than the ones at Walmart. These did not come with the little silver logo on the bottom.

Super cute but came damaged & really annoying to walk in
Size: 8, Color: Black Leather, Size: 8, Color: Black Leather
Super cute but mine came damaged and the straps don’t stay up great…
I love Steve Madden shoes, and own a few pairs already, so I had high hopes for these heels.
I ordered these for a wedding coming up and
I hadn’t opened the package right away as I was out of town, when I got back I was so excited to try them on only to find that they came already scuffed on the toes and heels!! It looked like they had been worn multiple times already, so that was upsetting.
In terms of fit, I ordered a size 8, and it fit true to size as far at the sole goes, as for the strap that goes from in between your toes and around your heel, it falls off after taking 3 steps and is honestly really annoying!
The strap that goes across the top of your foot was also wayyy loose on my feet and didn’t help the other strap stay in place much making it super difficult to walk in them, every step felt like they were about to fly off my feet!
Unfortunately, I will be returning them.
