Rocks racing across a lakebed in Death Valley. Perfectly preserved 36-million-year-old tsetse flies in Colorado. Dinosaur trackways cemented into ancient floodplains in Connecticut. A gaping rift in the Idaho desert. What do these enigmatic geologic phenomena have in common? Besides initiating a profusion of head-scratching over the years, these sites of geologic wonder appear side by side, for the first time, in a single publication.Examining in detail at least one amazing site for all fifty states, Albert Dickas clearly explains the geologic forces behind each ones origin in 101 Geologic Sites Youve Gotta See. Dickas discusses not only iconic landforms such as Devils Tower in Wyoming but also locales that are often overlooked yet have fascinating stories. Consider the Reelfoot scarp in Tennessee: to the casual observer it is nothing more than a slight rise in a farm field. Yet this subtle slope represents a rift formed during an 1812 earthquake that forced the mighty Mississippi to flow upstream. Or Lousianas unassuming, low-lying Avery Island, which actually caps an 8.5-mile-high column of salt. Amply illustrated with full-color photographs and illustrations and written in clear yet playful prose, 101 Geologic Sites Youve Gotta See will entertain and inform amateur and seasoned geology buffs whether from an armchair or in the field.

It is great to use if you are trying to understand the ...
Format: Hardcover
I am entering my second year of PA school and I use this book 2-3 times a week.
Summary: This is clearly a book for practitioners ONLY (or soon to be). If you are a medical, PA, or NP student, consider delaying buying this book until your 2nd or 3rd year. This book can feel very overwhelming, especially since most of the time you have a quick question and it may take several minutes to find it. It is great to use if you are trying to understand the entire picture of a disease, especially in a clinical context. It starts by giving you 1-2 paragraphs of pathophysiology, then gives you the process of diagnosing, the clinical presentation, the ddx, labs, tx, prognosis, and "pearls" of the disease. I like using this when I am learning about a specific disease for the first time. Please understand, there is no one book that can answer every question of medicine. This however, is as close as you will get with the exception of a few things here and there. Overall, great book to supplement my classroom lectures.

nice sturdy frame
We had a piece of actual wood lane from a bowling alley that i wanted a table made out of. Which made it weigh about 400 pounds, guessing. Our biggest worry about this is the frame holding it up with grandkids around!!! And being able to move it to sit behind it or clean around it when needed. This was what we decided on. Tim said it was super easy to put it together. The height was just a tad taller than our chairs, but there are pieces that can be taken out to accommodate this. When i told my husband it had wheels on it and definitely would aid moving it around. He said oh yeah, that's going to work real well with the weight of this table. And trust me it was said very sarcastically. So, that these worked as well as they have, really impressed him. We have friends that we gave a piece of lane to so they could make a bar in their kitchen out of it. He bought some pipe in town and he paid a heck of a lot more money out than we wanted to put out. So, we were extremely happy to find this. It is sturdy, great value and we are all very happy with it and it looks great! I highly recommend it. I think no matter what you are going to use it for, it is going to fit into any decor.

Quite good!
Quite a solid set of legs. It little flimsier than I had hoped for but we are not moving the table we built around much. The wheels are also quite small. I would purchase again though!
