Over the last decade Andre Lodemann, a regular in the world-wide underground dance-scene has released on many prolific labels, including Freerange, Room With A View, DFTD, and Innervisions. Come 2018 Lodemann is now releases his album The Deeper You Go on his own label Best Works Records. He started working on it in 2012, taking his time for his emotional artistic approach with a lot of attention to detail. The album successfully walks the imaginary spectrum of deep house, tech house, and techno also taking dives into other waters. Where his previous long-player Fragments (BWRLP 001CD, 2012) was a compilation of past works, The Deeper You Go is his first artist album containing everything a listener would want to hear both in a club and at home. You can feel that the tracks where created out of the same mold. There's a mood, a common thread and a story through the works. The album is dark in a subtle way and yet has that positive vibe and aggressiveness to it. The Deeper You Go is mostly instrumental with two features by the British singer and songwriter Huw Costin, bandleader of Torn Sail. Lodemann's sound is deep, warm but aggressive at the same time. It explores the less chartered end of the soundscape. His songs generally feel like a narrative. It builds and grows as the song progresses and climax past the halfway rewarding you for your time invested. At the climax the tracks sometimes morph into what feels like a whole new song. This is his signature sound. The album starts with "The Deeper You Go" and "Emptiness" - these two opening tracks follow the Lodemann formula to the tee. They are perfect as opening and introductory tracks as they set a deep mood for the rest of the album. Moving onward "Metamorphosis", a hard but soulful techno track that shatters the stereotype of what techno should sound like, crossing genre-borders. With the track "Lost In Your Eyes" he goes in a different direction using an aboriginal sounding horn, accompanied by a bassline, both together create an uplifting but also scary mood. "Birth" was released in 2017 and it feels raw and reminiscent of his earlier works. The collaborations with Huw Costin of Torn Sail complement Andre Lodemann style of production: In "Treasure" the two artists find perfect balance where the beat builds in between and around the vocals. "Misty Road" is a flowing bass-heavy ambient track that perfectly closes the album. The Deeper You Go is Andre Lodemann's artistic vision of modern electronic music using all possible means to create emotional sound sculptures.

Love This Set!
Color: Green
My daughter loves making matcha with this set. It as lasted for her matcha making sessions. The size is perfect to sit on top of the counter top. It's easy to clean, and leaves no after taste of any kind, nothing but great tasting matcha. The whisk makes to mix and get all the matcha powder so non sticks at the bottom or sides. It's a great buy!

Nice Matcha
Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz
The flavor of this is very smooth and not bitter like some other matchas I’ve tried in the past. It’s very easy to incorporate into water and tastes amazing with soy milk and strawberry syrup. I’d say this is very fresh tasting and smelling. I did have consistent energy throughout the day with no crash which is a plus. Only warning is be very careful because the tin and product are very light I accidentally knocked it over the first day I had it and half the matcha fell onto the floor and was wasted. I’ve now learned to be very slow around it so I don’t drop it again.

REVIEW FROM A NON-BEGINNER HERE
Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz, Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz
I’ve been drinking matcha for years and I’m very particular with the quality and how I make it. I’ve tried many matchas, so I hope my review helps you.
Would I buy again?
- Yes. This matcha is great for someone who likes quality matcha without spending too much money. I would drink this as my daily matcha.
- I can taste the difference between this matcha and a more expensive one, but I’d say this (price point aside) is about 90% in quality, taste, and experience if the expensive ones are 100%.
Price: $12.59 after tax for 30g (bought on sale)
Packaging:
- Tin foil seal with pull tab, matcha loose in container, no bag inside of container
- Comes with a rubber piece to keep matcha sealed after opening, very nice
- Comes with a small metal spoon?
- Top and bottom pieces separate from main container but don’t seem to have a function (see picture)
Matcha:
- In comparison to other high end matchas, this seems ever so slightly more coarse ground but doesn’t seem to have an effect on experience (no grainy feel)
- the flavor has slightly less “matcha flavor” but for the price point, it exceeds my expectations, may just have to increase the ratio of matcha
- Color: vibrant green, not dull oxidized color like some low end matchas
- Mouth feel: Nice buttery and smooth
- Caffeine: I am unfortunately not sensitive to caffeine so I can’t speak on the topic
How I make my matcha lattes (so you can check my credentials or learn how to make as a beginner getting into matcha):
1. Heat water to 175°F/80°C, soak bamboo whisk for 5 minutes before using to soften the bristles
2. Two scoops of matcha (≈2g) with bamboo scoop (not provided with this product) into matcha bowl through a sieve (if you have one)
3. Slowly pour water into bowl, about 2oz/60ml
4. Use the whisk to gently swirl the matcha so that there is no dry powder left
5. Whisk vigorously in a “W” shape for 20 seconds (careful not to press the whisk into the bottom of bowl, it’s fragile)
6. Bring the whisk to the surface of the matcha and gently whisk in a “W” shape until the bubbles are broken up into smaller ones, aka “microfoam”, about 10 seconds
7. Finish up by swirling the matcha with the whisk in a gentle circle shape, leaving a small peak of foam in the middle as you pull the whisk from the surface.
8. (Optional) Combine with ice, milk (I use half and half, about 8oz), and sweetener to make a latte (add the sweetener after it’s in the glass so that you don’t expose sugar to the whisk)
9. Rinse matcha whisk and bowl with hot water, place whisk carefully back on holder, making sure not to snag any bristles
For beginners:
- Don’t use boiling water, it will burn the matcha and cause the flavor to suffer
- BE SO GENTLE WITH THE WHISK PLEASE, and make sure you soak it before hand or it will be more prone to breakage
- Get a whisk holder. The whisk will be prone to mold if stored upside down (bristles up)
- When soaking the whisk, there should be a faint line about 1 cm down from the string binding, that’s where the water line should be. Don’t submerge the binding area or it will be more brittle and prone to mold.
- A sieve is a worthwhile investment for a smooth matcha experience
- All matchas naturally oxidize, so use within 1-3 months for a good experience, it’s not a feature of bad quality matcha, it’s just how all matcha is
- Color matters. If it’s dull, that means it is old or bad quality, bright vibrant green is what you’re looking for
- It’s normal for matcha to “settle” on the bottom of the glass after sitting for a while, just give it a swirl to remix it
I wish you all luck on your matcha journey! If you’re a beginner, there’s a lot to learn, but it’s so worth it!
