Don Freeman arrived on the sidewalks of New York with a trumpet under his arm, a artist’s sketch pad in his suitcase and an intense desire to find out if New York was really the place he had dreamed about. His hot trumpet took him from Little Italy and the Bowery to Tin Pan Alley and his pencil recorded everything he saw. Don Freeman is no Alger hero and his is not a rags to riches story. COME ONE COME ALL! reveals the maturing of a young man but it is an illustrated profile of New York as well. In these pages you will read about the Greats of the theater as seen through the eager eyes of a youngster, new to it all.
