Collagen peptides, also known as hydrolyzed collagen or collagen hydrolyzate, are a highly digestible protein produced from the skin of wild cold-sea fish (salmonidae). It is created through a delicate and gradual process of enzymatic processing of collagen-rich ingredients. This processing leads to the breakdown of collagen proteins into smaller peptide molecules to make them better absorbed by the human body.
As a result of enzymatic hydrolysis, the product loses its gelling effect and becomes soluble in water. One of the main advantages of BENE VOBIS® fish collagen is its bioavailability (absorption rate) and high content of amino acids: glycine, proline, as well as a number of hydroxylated amino acids, such as hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, which enable proteins to cross-link and create a stable collagen matrix.

BENE VOBIS® Fish Collagen offers microgranulated collagen peptides with an average molecular weight of 2000 Da (Da is short for Daltons), this is the standard unit used to represent the mass of molecules such as proteins. The 2,000 Da (two thousand dalton) variant has smaller molecules and a lower molecular weight, and therefore better bioavailability compared to other proteins.
The molecular weight of gelatin, depending on the raw material and production process, can range from 20,000 to 260,000 Da. Studies show that collagen peptides have better bioavailability in the human body than gelatin, due to the difference in molecular size.
Fish collagen peptides are easily digestible and suitable for people who cannot or do not want to consume hydrolysates from traditional animal sources.
